My first experiences with drugs had nothing to do with any form of spirituality, it was just about enjoyment, fun and new experiences. But then I had a very bad ski accident, and my life changed completely. I started to study Yoga, Tai Chi and meditation, and from there developed an interest in the traditional, ancient ways of healing. Those years of study took me to many different places and I started to learn more about drugs and consciousness.
My most powerful experience happened last year. On a beautiful day I decided to give myself some time to think about my life, and look back on the path I have taken. Before sunset, I took some LSD and went on the beach. I looked for a quiet spot and started doing breathing exercises and postures in order to let the energy flow and get rid of tension. Then I made my mind quiet, concentrating only on my surroundings, trying to be in tune with all living things. When the trip started to take me on, I was watching the clouds in the sky. It seemed the sky could separate in different layers going opposite ways. A vision came very powerfully, so intensely that I decided to make a sculpture out of it. It was an image of a man and a women kneeled on the ground shoulder to shoulder but turned in opposite directions. The man was looking up and tears ran down his face, the women had her face looking down hidden by her hair. Her body was covered by crawling bugs eating her up. Two months after this vision my very best friend died of Aids, after being positive for ten years. I cried a lot.
Psychedelic drugs are a great way to open our consciousness, but one has to learn how to use them. They are not toys, they are sacred and where given to us through the Great Mystery, we should respect them. Then we can have access to past life experiences, enlightenment or ecstasy.
